Cindy (2nd from left) was a crewman who jumped ship and had been out of status for over 10 years. After seeing a CITIZEN PINOY episode about another crewman who also jumped ship, Cindy and US citizen husband, Tom (left), consulted with leading US immigration attorney Michael J. Gurfinkel about her chances of legalizing, through “provisional waiver.”
Through Atty. Gurfinkel’s help, Cindy’s PROVISIONAL WAIVER was approved. She went back to the Philippines, was processed for her immigrant visa at the US Embassy in Manila, and returned to the US less than a month later, as a legal permanent resident. Provisional Waivers could benefit: (a) crewmen without 245(i): (b) those who entered the US without inspection (EWI) without 245(i); or (c) K-1 fiancées who did not marry their US petitioner.
