WOW 'EM AT 4th LUNAR FESTIVAL
PASADENA, California -- The sky was overcast, but still thousands of Filipinos went to the 4 th Annual Lunar Parade and Festival and enjoyed the day as if the sun was up. Philippine teenage sensations Sarah Geronimo and Mark Bautista made sure that the audience had a grand time.
Thousands of people lined up the famous Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena, California to watch the popular parade, with floats from participating Asian countries, including the Philippines. Sarah and Mark were on the Philippine float, joined by brother-actors Leandro and Carlo Munoz, who rode in a convertible.
After the parade, people moved to the festival site on Raymond Avenue where families sampled various Asian cuisine, including Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Thai and Filipino food. The children enjoyed the jumpers, while the parents shopped in several booths that lined the festival grounds.
The festival was capped by a multi-concert participated by top Asian performers. Leandro and Carlo hosted the Philippine portion of the festival entertainment, with Sarah and Mark rendering six songs each, plus two duet numbers. The crowd heartily applauded the two Philippine stars.
Sarah and Mark later drew the winning number for the grand prize, a brand new Toyota car. Many other prizes, including Southwest plane tickets, were raffled off. The two stars also signed autographs for fans in the booth of The Filipino Channel (TFC).
The annual event was presented by LA TV-18 and the Law Offices of Michael J. Gurfinkel, Inc. who is well known in the community as "Attorney to the Stars" and "Attorney of Last Hope."
It was a day of fun, food and wholesome entertainment for the thousands who attended the event. If you missed this one, be sure to be there next year for the 5 th Annual Lunar Parade and Festival, also in Pasadena.
Atty. Gurfinkel, whose mission is "Bringing Families Together," said he was happy to see families having fun together during the day-long festivities. Atty. Gurfinkel has sponsored many such events that can be enjoyed by the whole family together, as his way of thanking the Filipino community and his Filipina wife, Millie's "kababayans."
