Balaguer is thankful she listened to the advice of her friend,
who was a satisfied client of Atty. Michael J. Gurfinkel. Now,
she is a lawful permanent resident through Suspension of Deportation.
Balaguer had paid a huge amount to an immigration consultant for
the filing of a political asylum application, which enabled her
to get a temporary work permit. When she was called for interview
on the asylum application, Balaguer knew she would face possible
deportation. She sought the help of Atty. Gurfinkel who presented
her with the only viable alternative open to her - Suspension
of Deportation. Cristina is now a lawful permanent resident and
was finally able to travel to the Philippines, to visit her ailing
mother, whom she has not seen in 12 years, and the grave of her
father, who died while she was in the U.S.
