 GREEN CARD,
INSTEAD OF DEPORTATION
Wilhelmina
Abellera with Atty. Michael J. Gurfinkel, who helped her obtain
a green card after 14 years of being in what seemed to be a hopeless
situation. An immigration consultant told her to avail of a farmer's
visa (SAW), but she knew she was not entitled to it. Another attorney
suggested labor certification. But, because her job was unskilled,
it would take 10-15 years before she could get a green card. Atty.
Gurfinkel suggested she could get a green card through Suspension
of Deportation. Atty. Gurfinkel warned her it was one of the most
difficult ways to obtain a green card, but that he believed she
was entitled to it. Abellera was immediately granted Suspension
of Deportation by the Immigration Judge because of the very convincing
presentation of the facts and evidence of the case by Atty. Gurfinkel's
office.
