FATHER
SEES SON AFTER 16 YEARS
Auggie never thought he would get the chance to
see his father, Jose, who left for the U.S. 16 years earlier,
when Auggie was only 4 years old. It seemed there were just too
many obstacles to overcome:
1) Jose was not listed as the father on Auggie'’s original
birth certificate;
2) Jose was finally late-registered as the father 13 years after
Auggie's birth;
3) Auggie was baptized at age 13;
4) Jose did not disclose he had a son when Jose got his green
card;
5) Jose waited for many years before petitioning Auggie.
With the help of Atty. Gurfinkel, Auggie got his
visa and arrived in the U.S. three days before his 21st birthday.
