CITIZEN PINOY’s 6th Season Opens with Charice: International Diva & YouTube Singing Sensation!
YouTube and International SINGING SENSATION on CITIZEN PINOY! CHARICE PEMPENGCO (center) joins “Attorney-to-the-Stars” MICHAEL J. GURFINKEL (left) and broadcast personality GEL SANTOS-RELOS (right) for the season premiere of your most trusted immigration show. Charice discusses her journey to fame and wows the studio audience with several songs, when CITIZEN PINOY premieres on Sunday, February 10th at 6:10 pm (PST) with a replay on Tuesday, at 11:20 pm (PST) on TFC. REDWOOD CITY, CA. --- CITIZEN PINOY begins its new season with a bang when it features Filipina singer-turned-worldwide singing sensation through YouTube – Charice Pempengco. The 15-year old international wonder started singing in contests at age seven, and in 2005, she placed third in ABS-CBN’s singing contest “Little Big Star”.
Charice got world notice on the internet when her performance of the hit song “I Will Always Love You” was posted on YouTube by FalseVoice2. She was invited to sing on “Star King” – a talent show in South Korea’s Seoul Broadcasting System. Ellen DeGeneres saw the YouTube clip of Charice’s “Star King” appearance in November 2007, and personally invited the young singer to her show.
This invitation set in motion a series of fortunate events for the young Charice. The staff of The Ellen DeGeneres Show was told by a New York based entertainment lawyer that the legal paperwork for Charice to come to the US would take a couple of months. But they wanted her fast! Someone suggested getting in touch with leading immigration attorney Michael J. Gurfinkel, since he had represented many Filipino celebrities and is known to get things done fast. True enough, once the Law Offices of Michael Gurfinkel was contacted, he obtained Charice’s entertainer visa in the record time of two weeks. The young star moved Ellen DeGeneres and her studio audience to tears, as they gave her two standing ovations.
