A Much-Anticipated Reunion between Mother and Son on this Sunday’s CITIZEN PINOY!

MOTHER AND SON REUNITED AFTER MANY YEARS OF PAINFUL SEPARATION. Arlene (2nd from right) had to leave her son Kevin (2nd from left) in the Philippines when he was only two years old, to seek greener pastures in the U.S. But the separation was painful for both of them. Kevin had vague memories of his mom, except through stories from their relatives. And Arlene lost her chance to raise her son. Watch their dramatic and joyful reunion when CITIZEN PINOY hosts broadcast personality GEL SANTOS-RELOS (left) and leading immigration attorney MICHAEL J. GURFINKEL (right) bring you this week's episode of CITIZEN PINOY on Sunday, at 6:10 pm (PST) with replays on Tuesday, at 11:20 pm (PST) on TFC. CITIZEN PINOY also airs on ANC-US every Saturday at 5:00 pm with replays on Sunday at 9 am, all PST; and on ANC- Philippines every Sunday at 8 am with replays at 12 midnight on the same day.
REDWOOD CITY, CA. --- New Year’s eve of 1992 brought good tidings and cheer to Arlene when she gave birth to her son Kevin. However, Arlene’s joy was short-lived. Kevin’s dad left them. Arlene had to make ends meet as a single mother. And because life was difficult, Arlene decided to try her luck in the US. This meant leaving two-year old Kevin in the care of relatives. It was a painful but necessary decision. Arlene married a US citizen and started working two jobs to keep her busy and numb herself from the pain of missing her son every single day.
Except for one short vacation in 1997, Arlene had not seen Kevin for more than nine years. When she tried petitioning Kevin, problems came up that almost sank the case: a date of marriage was on Kevin’s birth certificate between Arlene and Kevin’s father, even though they never had married. It was just a date put there, something for show to avoid the stigma of having an illegitimate child, but was now jeopardizing Kevin’s ability to come to the U.S.
Watch the dramatic highlights and the joyful reunion of mother Arlene and son Kevin, despite all the problems and hurdles, when hosts leading immigration attorney MICHAEL J. GURFINKEL and broadcast personality GEL SANTOS-RELOS bring you CITIZEN PINOY every Sunday on The Filipino Channel (TFC).
