REDWOOD CITY, CA. --- What started out as a fairy tale for Krissy quickly turned into a nightmare. When she first visited the U.S., she met her future husband, Thomas, and they later fell in love, and eventually were married in LA.  Thomas then petitioned Krissy.  Everything seemed to fall in place for Krissy.  She could legally stay in the U.S., pursue her dreams of a better life, and she looked forward to their life as husband and wife.

However, at the start of 2005, Krissy noticed that Thomas suddenly became cold and distant.  Then Thomas went home to the Philippines to spend a couple of months to visit his mother.  The supposed short visit became a long one, a “vanishing act” and eventually all means of communication between Krissy and Thomas was cut off.  When Krissy asked Thomas’ relatives, she was told that Thomas no longer wanted to have anything to do with Krissy, and they refused to let her get in touch with him.  Krissy was devastated, because so many questions were left unanswered. She was lost.  She could not understand why or how her marriage turned sour.  Worse, her failed marriage could also adversely affect her immigration situation.  She suffered three nervous breakdowns in the span of one year.  The “match made in heaven” suddenly turned out to be a “marriage from hell.”  And Krissy had to do something fast in order to save her green card… her sanity… and her life.

Krissy’s life story has many interesting twists and turns.  Her rollercoaster experience and the ups and downs she had to go through can be an episode for “Maalaala Mo Kaya.”  Find out the solution to Krissy’s problem and learn valuable lessons and immigration information when hosts leading immigration attorney MICHAEL J. GURFINKEL and broadcast personality GEL SANTOS-RELOS bring you CITIZEN PINOY every Sunday, at 6:10 pm (PST) on The Filipino Channel (TFC).
