“Mother Lily’s” Former Lawyer said “No Hope” for Son, but he ends up with Green Card on this Sunday’s CITIZEN PINOY!

REDWOOD CITY, CA. --- You go to an immigration lawyer to ask for help. And once you have engaged the services of your legal consultant, you put your faith and your fate in that person, trusting that he will indeed find the solution to your (immigration) dilemma.
But, what if that same person tells you that there is nothing he could do for your situation? This could lead to such a major blow to your finances, not to mention your morale, as you stand there watching your dreams shatter to pieces. This is what “Mother Lily” had to go through when she tried to file for Adjustment of Status (AOS) for her son, who came to the U.S. on a tourist visa, then overstayed and became a TNT.
Mother Lily already filed for an F-2B (family-based petition) for her single son in July 1995. In October 2003, their former attorney filed for an AOS. However, in March 2004, the Citizenship and Immigration Services (CIS) denied the AOS because it was prematurely filed before the son’s priority date became current. It was at this point that the lawyer said there was nothing he could do. And this led to a period of depression for the family.
To cope with the sad twist of events, Mother Lily kept praying for things to get better, especially to find a solution for her son to legalize his stay in the U.S. While Mother Lily never got to see any episode of Citizen Pinoy (as they do not have TFC at home,) she always read Atty. Gurfinkel’s newspaper column. Her prayers were answered when she went on to consult with the “attorney-of-last-hope.”
