The Child Status Protection Act (CSPA) Saves the Day for Reymon on this Sunday’s CITIZEN PINOY!

REYMON GETS THE ELUSIVE GREEN CARD!  For many years, Reymon (2nd from left) was TNT after trying many dead-end avenues to get legal.   Hope came through the website of The Law Offices of Michael Gurfinkel, where Reymon learned that there were changes in laws that could help him.  Join hosts leading immigration attorney MICHAEL J. GURFINKEL (right) and broadcast personality GEL SANTOS-RELOS (left) in the next episode of CITIZEN PINOY on Sunday, at 6:10 pm with replays on Tuesday, at 11:20 pm all on TFC.  CITIZEN PINOY also airs on ANC-US every Saturday at 5:00 pm with replays on Sunday at 9 am, all PST. Shown ANC-Philippines every Sunday at 8 am, with replays at 12 midnight on the same day.

REDWOOD CITY, CA. --- Reymon is the second of three sons that Mommy Aida left in the Philippines when she tried to pursue her “American Dream”.  She also left behind her husband, a good job, and a house with three maids.  For seven long years, she endured the pain and hardship of being so far away from her family.  Luckily, she got her green card in 1992.  Her immediate thoughts were to legalize her children, who were TNTs (“tago ng tago”) in the U.S.   Following some bad advice from friends, Aida filed for asylum for her children, but she withdrew it later because it did not seem right.

The family, though reunited in the U.S. were under worrisome conditions. They were desperate to find other ways for the children to legalize their stay, since they could no longer bear to be apart.  The oldest son, Ben, fell in love with, and married a US citizen. So that was one problem solved.  The youngest, Roy, was automatically legalized when Mommy Aida became a US citizen.  It was the middle son, Reymon, who felt like he was in limbo with no law to back him up or help him.  Reymon confirms the feeling of uncertainty by saying “It was something that I was worried about all the time, because anytime I can be deported, right?”  But he persevered and did his own research via the internet.  And that was when he visited the website of the Law Offices of Michael Gurfinkel, and noticed that there was an article written about how Homeland Security has reversed their original interpretation of Section 6 of the Child Status Protection Act (CSPA), which could finally make him “legal”.  This was like the proverbial “light at the end of the tunnel” for Reymon and Mommy Aida, especially since the latter is a Citizen Pinoy fan!
