REDWOOD CITY, CA. --- Jun and Brenda Villarosa were successful anesthesiologists in the Philippines. But Jun wanted more options for his four children. So, he pursued the American dream. A change in careers to nursing and a hospital that was willing to sponsor him and his family, Jun thought the dream could soon be a reality. At first, his wife Brenda and the children did not like the idea. They already had a good life in the Philippines. But they all agreed the family should stay together, and so they went for “greener pastures”.

Once in the US, Jun’s papers encountered serious problems. He got a letter from Immigration denying his adjustment of status for a green card. Also, their oldest son, Carlo, had turned 21 and had “aged out”. And worse, the denial notice informed the family that they must leave the U.S. at once, or be deported. Their original attorney told them their case was denied and they must go home! It was panic time indeed!

The Villarosas no longer knew what to do, or who to turn to, until Jun’s best friend stumbled upon an article in the Asian Journal where “attorney-of-last-hope” Michael J. Gurfinkel was featured about a case similar to the Villarosa’s.
