SONGBIRD SINGS THE TRUTH. Asia's songbird, Regine Velasquez (second from left), with CITIZEN PINOY hosts (from left) Atty. Mike Guingona, Atty. Michael J. Gurfinkel, and Odette Keeley. Regine will reveal FOR THE FIRST TIME ON TV the story behind the accusation of "alien smuggling" against her by the American Embassy, and how Atty. Gurfinkel helped her regain her U.S. visa, which allowed her to perform again in the U.S. Watch Regine on the premier telecast of CITIZEN PINOY, an immigration talk show on The Filipino Channel on Sunday, May 8, 2005 at 5 p.m.

Asia's songbird, Ms. Regine Velasquez, had a soaring career.

A multi-platinum recording artist, box-office movie star, SRO concert performer -

she was on top of the world, until that fateful summer of 2000 when her world fell apart. All that she worked for was threatened.

She was all set for her "R2K" concert tour in the US, when she was accused of "alien smuggling" by the US Embassy, and was banned from entering the US for life.

The media had a field day speculating on her "crime." She was on the news almost every day. But Regine didn't give any interviews, nor comments about her case.

The songbird struggled against the winds of public humiliation, depression, and emotional and psychological pain. "It was really very embarrassing, but I just didn't know what to do," Regine disclosed.   "I couldn't face anybody. For two weeks, I just stayed in my room and cried.   I never thought something like this could happen to me... I couldn't sleep, my hair fell out from the stress..."

Her "knight in a Hawaiian shirt" came in the person of Atty. Michael J. Gurfinkel, known as "Attorney to the Stars" and "Attorney of Last Hope."   Atty. Gurfinkel has helped many Filipino celebrities like Christopher de Leon, Michael de Mesa and Gina Alajar in obtaining their green cards, working visas, or even American citizenship. It was Vic del Rosario, President of VIVA, who suggested to Regine to seek the services of Atty. Gurfinkel.

Atty. Gurfinkel was faced with what seemed to be an impossible case, "a lifetime ban from entering the US." But with a lot of hard work, he convinced the US Embassy in Manila to give Regine back her visa, to enable her to perform once again in the US.

What exactly is "alien smuggling?"   What are the details of Regine's case?   How was Atty. Gurfinkel able to lift Regine's lifetime ban to enter the US due to "alien smuggling?"

In an exclusive interview, Regine tells the whole story, in the premiere telecast of CITIZEN PINOY --    a one-hour talk show that will provide information on the various possibilities, issues and problems regarding US immigration. Regine agreed to appear on CITIZEN PINOY, with the one person she trusted on her case, and whom she has so much to thank for - Attorney Gurfinkel.

Watch Regine as she tells her story, her heartaches, and her triumph against all odds. Hear her story on the speculation about her father "selling visas." For the first time, Regine will set the record straight, in her first "no-holds barred" interview about her case.

CITIZEN PINOY is hosted by Atty. Mike Guingona, Ms. Odette Alcazaren-Keeley and leading immigration Attorney, Michael J. Gurfinkel.

CITIZEN PINOY is the first locally produced public affairs talk show of ABS-CBN International, North America and will be seen every Sunday at 5:00 pm on TFC

(The Filipino Channel) - starting May 8.
