ATTORNEYS CAN HELP YOU FIGHT FOR YOUR "IMMIGRATION FREEDOM"
by Michael J. Gurfinkel, Esq.

The Fourth of July is a time to reflect on freedom. Many Filipinos came to the U.S. in the hopes of providing a better future for their family and enjoying the many freedoms America has to offer. By sending money back home to their family, Filipinos are able, in their own little way, to help not only the loved ones they left behind, but the Philippine economy as well. Unfortunately, many Filipinos in the U.S. suffer through the pain and sorrow of separation from their loved ones. But they courageously endure this sacrifice in order to provide a better future for their family and to help their own country.

Many Filipinos are fighting for another kind of freedom in the United States -- freedom from fear of being deported, and freedom from an uncertain future. They know that until they have legalized their status in America, they will continue to be haunted by the fear of being caught and deported, or being forced to accept work far below their education, experience, and skill.

Many Filipinos are faced with a battle for their "immigration freedom". Knowing Filipinos' courage and perseverance, I know many of them will prevail. However, with current immigration laws becoming more strict, their battle has become even more difficult.

Immigration attorneys can help you win this battle. Attorneys can help you assess your immigration situation, identify options available to you, and once the best option is chosen, fight with you all the way until you have won the battle for your immigration freedom, by way of a green card or other legal status.

Although I have always believed in the intelligence and courage of the Filipino people, I must remind you not to fight this battle alone, or without the assistance of a reputable attorney. In military battles, there are many hidden land mines along the way. Freedom fighters need the help of those familiar with the battlefield, to clear the way for them, and guide them to victory. In the same manner, the immigration process is full of complex procedures and requirements, and immigration attorneys can help clear the way for you. An attorney can make sure that you meet all the requirements, submit the correct documents, and make a clear and convincing presentation of your case.

After the battle's smoke has cleared (when you finally obtain a green card or other legal status), then you will have won another kind of freedom -- freedom to be with your family, freedom from fear of being caught by INS and being deported (or removed), most important of all, freedom to go back to the Philippines, secure in knowing that you can safely return to the U.S., without fear of being turned back by the INS. Then you can be with your loved ones, so you can freely pursue the American Dream.

This Independence Day, you should finally declare your own independence from your immigration problems, so you can finally live "free" in the "Land of Opportunity".
